Team Registration Process (deadline 31st May!)

A gentle reminder that the registration process closes on May 31st. Many thanks to those Team Captains who have already commenced this process, but email nudges have today been sent to some commence. Quoting from our email and post of the 13th April:

As in 2018 we will be using an on-line registration process which requires an account to be set-up for each team that has entered the Castles. In order to activate this account for your team, please email John Upstone on confirming the email address and name of the person who will be managing your team’s registration.

..a reminder also that whilst a team of 20 is required to complete The Castles, a team can register pretty much as many runners as they like on the system. Runners registering will need to enter the usual details (name, address, DOB, sex, registration number, mobile number plus details of any medical conditions we need to be aware of). Details will follow when you commence registration

If you have any queries or problems with the Registration System itself please email For any general queries about the race itself email me The 2019 WCR Race Pack is available here and each of the stage maps here.

Race Numbers

Just 5 weeks training to go! Please note that race numbers for this year's WCR have just been posted to team captains -1st class, recorded delivery, selloptape AND Prittstick... #Takingnochances!

Should be with you by early next week. Runners have to wear two race numbers (front and back) and ours come with detachable strips to help stressed time keepers identify 'vet' (V) and female ('F') runners. Confused? You won't be! Have a great weekend everyone.. ๐Ÿ”

Welcome Team Right to Movement (RTM) Palestine!

We're delighted to welcome a remarkable new overseas team to the 2019 Welsh Castles Relay, Right to Movement (RTM) Palestine. In recent years they have entered runners and teams in numerous challenging events in various parts of the world. I asked Team Captain Diala Isid to say a few words about themselves..

"Right to Movement Palestine is a social running group that highlights the basic human right of freedom of movement and empowers women to be the future leaders and runners of Palestine. RTM has nine running communities all over Palestine and a few international branches. RTM is the founder of the Palestine Marathon that attracts thousands of runners annually to Bethlehem. RTM leads Palestinian runners' delegations to run in international races around the world to tell a different story about Palestine, we ran Derry Marathon in N. Ireland, Edinburgh Marathon in Scotland, Chicago Marathon, Beirut Marathon, San Fransisco Marathon, Cologne Marathon, Amsterdam Marathon, Chile Marathon, Swiss alpine Marathon, Cape town Marathon and many other. We are looking forward to run the Welsh Castles Relay in June 8th and 9th"

Entering and sending to Wales a squad of 20 plus runners many of whom live in Palestine is, needless, to say a major challenge both logistically and financially - Diala has, consequently, set-up a fund-raising site to help make their entry in this year's WCR possible.
