Following the introduction of the mass mixed start on a Thursday night, we have decided to extend this further and introduce a Club Sunday run.
The idea is that we will meet at Llandaff Rugby Club at 9.30am, then run north along the Taff Trail as this gives the best options for varying the length of the runs.
All the runs will start on the same route :
Llandaff Rugby Club, Western Ave, over the River Taff, turn left down the steps and follow the Taff Trail North. Pass under Llandaff North bridge and into Haley Park, past tennis courts, continue on tarmac path past car park, through gate and onto pavement, under railway bridge, continue until you reach the turning off for the Canal path :-
stay on road, past Cardiff High School Old Boys Rugby Club, and continue until you reach Radyr Bridge. Cross the bridge and pass under the railway bridge and up the slope. Turn left, take first exit off roundabout, and then turn right. At end of cottages (on right) turn right and go through gate. Follow path up through Radyr woods, stay on path keeping houses on your right and then down the steps, at the bottom of the steps turn left on to dirt path. Stay on path until you reach the lane, turn left and follow until you reach T junction, turn left and follow road until you reach the main road, cross the road bearing right, as you pass the entrance to the Rowing Club turn left down narrow path, at the bottom turn right, follow this path, up the small slope and turn left, follow the path/river until you reach Western Ave, turn right and finish at the bus stop outside the Rugby Club.
Bear right onto the Canal path, continue along, passing the lock. As you near the end of the Canal path bear a sharp left then right at the fallen tree, follow the path around to the left and then out on to the road, passing Amersham, Johnson’s & Johnson’s. Cross the road and go through the gate back on to the trail. Bear left, the path splits :
turn left on to the Taff Trail River path, continue until you reach Radyr bridge. Cross the bridge and pass under the railway bridge and up the slope. Turn left, take first exit off roundabout, and then turn right. At end of cottages (on right) turn right and go through gate. Follow path up through Radyr woods, stay on path keeping houses on your right and then down the steps, at the bottom of the steps turn left on to dirt path. Stay on path until you reach the lane, turn left and follow until you reach T junction, turn left and follow road until you reach the main road, cross the road bearing right, as you pass the entrance to the Rowing Club turn left down narrow path, at the bottom turn right, follow this path, up the small slope and turn left, follow the path/river until you reach Western Ave, turn right and finish at the bus stop outside the Rugby Club.
Continue straight on and bear right under the M4, at the Iron bridge turn right and follow lane, bear right and then left under bridge, follow Iron Bridge Rd into Tongwynlais. Turn left, cross road, at the Lewys Arms turn right, follow this road eventually crossing to the left hand side. Turn in through the gates and climb up to Castell Coch. When you reach the Castle the route splits :
go back down the hill retracing your steps, through Tongwynlais and Iron Bridge Rd, at the Iron bridge turn left, under M4, bear left and then turn right on to the Taff Trail River path, continue until you reach Radyr bridge. Cross the bridge and pass under the railway bridge and up the slope. Turn left, take first exit off roundabout, and then turn right. At end of cottages (on right) turn right and go through gate. Follow path up through Radyr woods, stay on path keeping houses on your right and then down the steps, at the bottom of the steps turn left on to dirt path. Stay on path until you reach the lane, turn left and follow until you reach T junction, turn left and follow road until you reach the main road, cross the road bearing right, as you pass the entrance to the Rowing Club turn left down narrow path, at the bottom turn right, follow this path, up the small slope and turn left, follow the path/river until you reach Western Ave, turn right and finish at the bus stop outside the Rugby Club.
As you start to turn away from the castle go straight on and take the dirt path up the hill (steep), at the top of the climb you meet the main path :
turn right and follow path all the way to the top car park, then turn back and retrace your steps to the top of the climb, go straight on and join the 14 mile route :
turn left and follow path down the hill, at the bottom go right through the cycle barrier. Follow this path until you get to the bridge with the steel work, turn right immediately after the bridge, drop down and turn right under the bridge, follow the mud path, bear right and through the gate, cross the road and through the other gate, down the steps and follow path. You will meet the wider main path, turn left, crossing over the A48 and into Taffs Well Industrial Est. and past the train station. Turn right at the lights and follow road into Taffs Well, past the park on the left, turn left up the near side of the school, stay on right hand path, down slope, up steps and across bridge over River Taff, follow the path up through the Zig Zags. When you reach the top turn left and follow road, when you come to the end of the road turn left at the T junction, follow this road on the left hand side until just before the roundabout, cross over and go straight over roundabout, continue straight over next roundabout, when you get to the bend in the road you will need to cross over to the left hand side. Turn left into the Garden Nursery and then right, through car park and onto playing field, turn right and follow the outside the pitches, turn left and head for the corner. Take the small path, when you reach the lane turn left, across the Level Crossing and through the Fruit Farm, go across the Iron bridge, turn right, under M4, bear left and then turn right on to the Taff Trail River path, continue until you reach Radyr bridge. Cross the bridge and pass under the railway bridge and up the slope. Turn left, take first exit off roundabout, and then turn right. At end of cottages (on right) turn right and go through gate. Follow path up through Radyr woods, stay on path keeping houses on your right and then down the steps, at the bottom of the steps turn left on to dirt path. Stay on path until you reach the lane, turn left and follow until you reach T junction, turn left and follow road until you reach the main road, cross the road bearing right, as you pass the entrance to the Rowing Club turn left down narrow path, at the bottom turn right, follow this path, up the small slope and turn left, follow the path/river until you reach Western Ave, turn right and finish at the bus stop outside the Rugby Club.
