Excellent conditions for the final outdoor league meeting of the year. We had 14 athletes competing + Mr Reliable (Howey Brown). Many thanks from all the athletes to Howey for his continued timekeeping at these events and others.

A warm welcome to Evatt Cummings and Alan Mason for their debuts for the club and looking forward to their added support next year.

Strong runs by Eirian Arwyn in the 100m and 200m, Helen Jessop in the 200m and 800m and once again Jane Coker in the 3000m.

 Congratulations to Alun Jones and Matt Hurford for their PB in the 200m and 3000m respectively.

 Highest points scorer for the club on the night was Alun Jones – 46 followed by Evatt Cummings – 38.

 As a team we came close to toppling Newport in the Men’s League at this meeting but fell just 29 points short whilst the ladies had a lot to do against a very competitive and numerically large Rhondda team.….may be next year …

Terrific performances throughout but excellent 1/2 by Helen Jessop and Jo Tucker in the 400m and 800m. Terrific battle in the 1500m and strong team performances in the Relays.

I have also attached a copy of the entry form or you can go direct to the Welsh Masters web site. The closing date for entry is the 24th May.

Don't forget to register as a Welsh Master before the event, though you can take part as a guest.

A further meeting will be held at UWIC on Saturday, 5th March - 60m, 200m and 800m + field events. The closing date for these events is Friday, 25th February.

A reminder that registration for the Welsh Masters 2011 is also due.

The Track can often appear to be a very lonely place when you are struggling to stay with the opposition but the opportunity to represent your country and gain a Welsh vest is often the spur to greater achievement. Thanks must go to Mel James for his encouragement and belief in the talent and passion of Les Croupiers members. Track events were well populated with Les Croupiers representatives but Eirian Arwyn was our sole representative in the field events.

There were two Welsh winners in both the women's and the men's competitions but pride of place must go to Sandy Johnstone for his masterful victory in the M60 3000m in 10:53.7  .

Ten regions took part  in very warm conditions but it was the Midlands who won the Women's Championship and Southern Counties the Men's with the Midlands taking the Overall Championship.

The Welsh teams were competitive throughout with the men finishing third and the ladies fourth.
