Excellent conditions for the final outdoor league meeting of the year. We had 14 athletes competing + Mr Reliable (Howey Brown). Many thanks from all the athletes to Howey for his continued timekeeping at these events and others.

A warm welcome to Evatt Cummings and Alan Mason for their debuts for the club and looking forward to their added support next year.

Strong runs by Eirian Arwyn in the 100m and 200m, Helen Jessop in the 200m and 800m and once again Jane Coker in the 3000m.

 Congratulations to Alun Jones and Matt Hurford for their PB in the 200m and 3000m respectively.

 Highest points scorer for the club on the night was Alun Jones – 46 followed by Evatt Cummings – 38.

 As a team we came close to toppling Newport in the Men’s League at this meeting but fell just 29 points short whilst the ladies had a lot to do against a very competitive and numerically large Rhondda team.….may be next year …

Welsh Masters' T+F, Meeting 3, 13th July 2011, Newport

A reduced involvement but many members were competing at the Cosmeston Relays. Conditions were ideal for fast times.

Terrific performances throughout but excellent 1/2 by Helen Jessop and Jo Tucker in the 400m and 800m. Terrific battle in the 1500m and strong team performances in the Relays.

Thanks also to Howey for his continued support with the time keeping.

If you missed the Welsh Masters' League 1 meeting or it has whetted your appetitie for more, then the next Welsh Masters' event is the Welsh Masters' Championship on the the 5th June. A provisional programme is given below:
