All good forums are moderated and have a set of rules by which users can abide when posting their messages and forum moderators can follow when observing their use. The absence of rules can make it unclear as to what is acceptable on the club pages or the reasons for locking or removing threads.
(1) Comments about running, club life and Les Croups in general (including constructive criticism).
(2) Offers of lifts, notification of upcoming events, details of social activity of interest to club members.
(3) Questions and queries about running, triathlon, multi-sport, general injury advice….that type of thing.
(4) Ideas for improvement, suggestions for new club services and – in particular! – offers of help with Club administration.
What’s not ok………
(1) Anything abusive or upsetting to club members and/or non-club members.
(2) Anything that may bring the Club into disrepute or tarnish our reputation.
(3) Raising of sensitive club matters that are best discussed offline (e.g. with team captains, other committee members or at our open committee meetings (open to Club members).
(5) Posting under an alias or another's name.
(6) Using the site to promote/discuss political issues.
(7) Using the site to tout for business.
The vast majority of the time we don’t have a problem with forum use, though occasionally an item may be removed or a thread locked as the editorial team and/or committee feel a post (or the entire thread) has overstepped the mark, may overstep the mark, has run out of steam or is just plain old spam. We do appreciate that sometimes the reasons for this may not be obvious to the casual observer, but please bear in mind that we are a very large club, our views count and that the debate, discussions and comment happen in the most public of arenas. We regularly have to work with many outside agencies and public bodies to ensure that some of the services that we offer – races in particular – remain available in a world where it is increasingly difficult to offer sporting services that are genuinely open to all.
One further thing that we would ask, is that should a post be edited, removed or locked and that you are unhappy with that decision, that you express those sentiments to the web editors directly. A right of appeal should always exist, but through the right channels. This is a courtesy we’re sure that you’ll agree is correct. The rules have been developed in consultation amongst the active members of the editorial team.
