December
- Old Father Time. Our own veterans' only road race, Gareth Davies of Bridgend won by a comfortable margin over Richie Bullen. Francis Gill won the ladies race, ahead of Steve Brace (who just just sneaked under the 30:00 mark).
- Glynneath Boxing Day 5M. From us, Julian Baker, Simon Nurse, Matt Townsend, Dave Coles, Richard Boon, Mike Davies, Alan Mann, and Nicola Williams.
- Merthyr Mawr Pudding Run. Something like 40 Croups turned out and Julian Baker was denied victory by the width of a vest; Julie Scholey, Joanna Prichard, Rhiannon Rees, and Sue Neal were the winning ladies team.
- Forest of Dean Xmas Pudding. Matt Townsend distinguished himself by finishing in the top 10, leading Andrew Holden and Joanna Pritchard home.
- Inter-Regional and Welsh Vets Cross-Country Champs. Raising a defiant finger to the new terminology, these were advertised as the "Welsh Vets" (as opposed to "Masters").
- Aberystwyth 10k. Dave Thomas kept the Croups flag flying with a creditable 41:41.
- Gt Barford Half Marathon. Glenda Edwards ran round in 1:38:37.
- Gwent League #3, Bath University. How we did.
- RNLI Reindeer Run, Margam Park.
- Luton Marathon. Early sources tell me that Dave Williams finished in 6th place, in 2:41:58, thus leaving the club best for the year to Mick (who wanted me to note the 11 minute positive split). Comparisons to the tortise and the hare spring to mind, given that the age difference is over fifteen years. Age before beauty indeed. Gil John ran 3:58:52 in his 200th marathon.
November
- British & Irish Masters International, Sentry Hill, Ballymena. From us (all running for Wales), Kim Ripley, Yvonne Bullen, Sue Neal, Annie Conroy, Claire Johnson, Mick McGeoch, Paul Smith, and Dave Powell. Ken Bray and Liz Clarke managed the team.
- Sodbury Slog. Dave Coles, Dave Headon, Matt Townsend, Terry Caveney, Graeme Donnan (recorded as unaffiliated), Steve Lewis, Dave Weeden, Andrew Holden, Stephen Katchi, Alan Mann, Rhiann LLewellyn, Angela Neal, Sue Neal, and Sharon Smith braved the mud, rivers, etc.
- Cheddar Half Marathon. Glenda Edwards ran 1:34:23. The mysterious 'Clem Clement' was 8th; Janice Clement ran her first sub-two half of the year.
- Gwent League #2. Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare. Senior Men: individuals and teams; Senior Women: individuals and teams. We are now second team in both the senior men's and women's leagues. How we did. Derek Scarborough is in work & pretty much ok — despite swelling & deep bruising to both legs.
October
- Stroud Half Marathon. Clive Osmond (1:29:49), Graeme Donnan(1:32:30), and Sharon Rose(2:10:56).
- Kimm 2002 Cheviot Event. Cledwyn Jones was 173rd, Carol Miller 168th, and Bill Fear and Matt Townsend were 19th in the Class C. Andy Cleves and "Simon Nurse" (aka Dave Oldham) were 66th, and Rhys Williams and Julian Carter were 23rd in the Class A.
- National Road Relays. Our Ladies 'A' team of Heidi Williams (70) 18:52 Yvonne Bullen (64) 18:03 Wendy Edwards (51) 16:53 Kim Ripley (47) 17:44 were 47th and the 'B' team of Sue Neal (75) 19:25 Glenda Edwards (70) 18:53 Jo Pritchard (64) 18:35 Nicola Williams (63) 19:50 were 63rd out of 71 in the Ladies 4-Stage. Julian Baker (38) 18:43 Richie Bullen (51) 19:36 Mick McGeoch (50) 19:53 Simon Nurse (53) 20:29 Dave Williams (49) 19:24 and John Cox (47) 19:39 were 47th out of 63 in the Men's 6-Stage. Numbers in brackets refer to team position at end of each leg.
- Hawaii Ironman Triathlon. Sue Stephens completed the course in a time of 15 hours and 58 minutes. Naturally she's chuffed.
- Abingdon Marathon. John Cox placed 4th in 2:37, thereby staying as club #2 for 2002. He'll next get his chance on 13/4. Not surprisingly, he used the "go off like a ballistic missile approach". Terry Caveney used the sensible (Dave Weeden) approach and was rewarded with a 3:07. (Mick McGeoch)
- Chicago Marathon. Actual results Frank Moritz 2:58:59; Dick Brewer 3:17:15; Alan Mann 3:28:09; Dave Weeden 3:36:00; Dave Lloyd 3:42:31.
- Gwent League, Bridgend.

September
- Berlin Marathon. Mick McGeoch ran an impressively even 2:39:11 (with only the mildest fatique after 30k). - Isca Duathlon. Ruth and Keith Davies and Martin Clissold got on (and off) their bikes here in preference to Swansea. Keith estimates the run distance as approx. 4.5k and the cycle as a hilly 20k. Note that results are ordered by race number, not finishing position: Keith came third overall; Ruth won.

- BUPA Bristol Half Marathon. Keith McGeoch (1:21:15); Matthew Davey (1:25:28); Mark Farrar (1:37:47); Richard Williams (1:57:12); and Sarah Osborne (2:41:33).

- Moreton-in-Marsh 10k. An impressive nine men ran below 30 minutes. Only slightly more modestly, Richie Bullen again crossed the line ahead of Julian Baker (32:07 to 32:10), while Dave Coles beat his PB once more to finish in 36:23, followed in by Graeme Donnan (41:06); together these four placed fourth in the team race.
- KRUF 10k. Richie Bullen ran a PB as a vet. How we did.
- XTERRA Triathlon, Exmoor (1500m open ocean swim/26km off-road mountain bike/10km cross-country trail run). Ruth Davies (23:38; 1:48:19; 1:05:41) 3:17:38; Geran Hughes (21:41; 2:12:14; 1:02:41) 3:36:36.

- Newport Transporter Bridge 5k #3. Rob Jones–16:56; Peter Kellam–17:10; Mike Davies–19:09; Dick Brewer–19:50; Cath Gardner–20:03; Paula Ham–21:19.
July
- BVAF Track & Field Championships. Mick McGeoch ran a personal worst 'by a considerable margin' of 35:06 in the 10,000m, but, in the 90° heat, it was enough for a bronze in the M45 category.
