This site doesn’t gather information on users through cookies at present. While cookies are mostly innocuous, many people, myself included, set their browsers to detect and/or refuse them. We no longer use the bulletin board, or Moveable Type, or b2 evolution which did set their own cookies.
However, once the new blog is fully operational, it will set cookies. If you wish to leave a comment you will be able to disable these. If you write a post, however, the software will need to track you while you do, and at present I can think of no way around that.
If you are so foolish as to write to us, we may write back. Then again we may not. Either way we won’t sell or pass on your email address to any commercial third parties. This applies if you use the ‘Email this page to a friend’ function. (We ask for your name and your email address so that your friend knows who it came from; we don’t store the details.) However, if you want to publicise an event, or contact a member, we may publish your contact details, or pass on any other information requested. If we do publish email addresses on the calendar or on the blog, we will encode them with the intention of hiding them from address harvesting robots. We may have got the idea from either this rather neat conversion tool, or or this one. This isn’t perfect, but it’s the best we’re prepared to do for now.
Please note that if you wish to contact someone other than the club officers or the email contacts given, we will pass your details on to them. We indend to protect the privacy of our members and other people mentioned on this site (for example, race organisers) by not giving out their addresses, phone or fax numbers, or email addresses for any reason.
