This site doesn’t gather information on users through cookies at present. While cookies are mostly innocuous, many people, myself included, set their browsers to detect and/or refuse them. We no longer use the bulletin board, or Moveable Type, or b2 evolution which did set their own cookies.
If you are so foolish as to write to us, we may write back. Then again we may not. Either way we won’t sell or pass on your email address to any commercial third parties. However, if you want to publicise an event, or contact a member, we may publish your contact details, or pass on any other information requested. If we do publish email addresses on the calendar or on the blog, we will encode them with the intention of hiding them from address harvesting robots. We may have got the idea from either this rather neat conversion tool, or or this one. The details on the calendar are stored in a database, but contact details are deleted as soon as possible after the last appropriate race. This isn’t perfect, but it’s the best can do for now. The only email addresses held on this server apart from those are those of the club officers on the contact page.
Please note that if you wish to contact someone other than the club officers or the email contacts given, we will pass your details on to them. We indend to protect the privacy of our members and other people mentioned on this site (for example, race organisers) by not giving out their addresses, phone or fax numbers, or email addresses unless requested to do so.
The only private information other than contact details held on this site are members’ basic details: that is, name, sex, and date of birth. The last two are used for calculating the race championships. If you don’t want your birthday to be celebrated on the home page (I won’t give away year of birth, I just say ‘Happy Birthday to …’), you can write to me, and I’ll put your name on an ‘opt-out’ list.
