General stuff

Kit

Most the races in the 2010 off-road championship should be run in trail shoes, although for some of those on easier terrain, such as the Sospan 10, ordinary road shoes are perfectly adequate. None of the races require fell shoes.

The categories and points system

Senior men = 70 points
Male masters over age 40 = 50 points
Male masters over age 50 = 30 points
Male masters over age 60 = 10 points

Senior women = 60 points
Female masters over age 35 = 50 points
Female masters over age 45 = 30 points
Female masters over age 55 = 10 points

With this scoring system, the highest placed Les Croupiers man gets 70 points, the second 69 and so on. For male masters over the age of 40 it is 50, 49, 48 ... points etc. Whereas male masters over the age of 50 start at 30 points then 29 points and so on.

The senior women's winner gets 60 points and the first female master (over the age of 35) gets 50 points, with a descending number of points for the next places.

These points should allow a fair system for all concerned. If a club athlete competes in more than five races the appropriate number of lowest scores are not counted.

Masters score in all younger age groups. The masters age group is based on the competitor’s age on the day; therefore it can change during the year. Provisionally, there will be an award to the first three in each age group, but restricted to one person one award. The best position and lowest age group will be used to settle any conflicts. Although the best five performances count, if there is limited interest in the championship, any award winner needs to have competed in a minimum of four races.
