A Big Thank You.......

This is a little later than I had originally planned, but I would like to thank the following people for taking on the Captains and Managers Roles for 2015/16.

Firstly I would like to thank Aine Kenny for her position as Ladies Captain and sorting out the Castles Relay and the Gwent Lge teams, and also Julie Scholey who took up the position of Ladies Vice Captain and helped Aine out during the year.

The there were the Castles Relay roles. Matt Hurford who looked after the Men's team with some help from Nick Dukes. And the Vets team was headed by Richard Self with the help of James Bruce.

Thank you all for your time and effort over the last year.

So, who is doing what in 2016/17?

Once again Aine and July will head the Ladies section with Aine in the Ladies Captain role and Julie as her Vice Captain

On the Men's Castles side, the Manager of the Senior team will once again be Matt Hurford, with his support helpers to be confirmed, and for the Vets team, James Bruce will be heading the management team with the help of Dave Coles and Marcus Meyrick.

Richard Self will once again be co-ordinating the transport for the weekend - please see other posts.

So the 2016 Welsh Castles Relays Team Managers sub committee will be made up of:
Phil Cook (Club Captain/Sub committee chair)
Aine Kenny (Ladies Captain)
Julie Scholey (Ladies Vice Captain)
Matt Hurford (Men's Team Manager)
tbc (Men's Assistant Team Manager)
James Bruce (Vets Team Manager)
Dave Coles (Vets Assistant Team Manager)
Marcus Meyrick (Vets Assistant Team Manager)
Richard Self (Transport co-ordinator)

The teams for the Castles Relay will be selected after the Castles 10 mile run on Sunday 1st May and will be announced by the end of that week.

Awards Night Thank You ....

I've been asked to post this by Helen Jessop
.
I've received a message from Liz Kirwan's parents which they have asked me to share:
.
It was lovely to meet up with you all on Friday night, it was an emotional evening for Sian and myself but with the help from John, Clare and yourselves we got through it. We are sure Liz was watching and would have approved of the first winner of her cup, Carys Hughes.
.
Also Liz's parents attended the opening of a new family room in the Princess of Wales hospital this week which was funded from their half marathon fundraising achievements (about £10,000) for 2 wish upon a star. An amazing effort.

Captains / Team Managers Positions Required - 2016

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Aine Kenny, Julie Scholey, Matt Hurford and Richard Self for their help and support over the last year, without their time we would not be able to organise and take part in many events during the year, especially the Castles Relay.

As we complete another year of the Club’s Competitions Sub Committee we are now looking to continue this on into the coming year. These positions are up for election/re-election each year; we are looking for nominations – either new or existing holders. The positions will require you to work with the Club Captain and form part of the Club’s Competitions Sub Committee.

The positions available are listed below along with a brief description of the role.

If you are interested in any of the positions could you please e-mail me at philjlcook@googlemail.com using the subject header “Competitions Committee”? Could you please let me know by Friday 18th March at the latest?
