ACE - a message from Mick McGeogh

I'm sure you're all aware of how talented a club we are. You only have to read through the back copies of ACE (which has now been going for 36 years) to recognise that. However most members are a little modest in coming forward with contributions for ACE. There's no reason to be modest, because it's been another very successful summer, with many members producing performances they wouldn't have dreamt of not long ago!

So come and share your experiences in ACE!

Howard Kent has been putting this magazine together for the last 5 years, however for this coming edition I will be helping. Howard already has quite a bit of nostalgia (which is great for older members). But what we'd really like is new material, particularly from newer members. Please send to me at

Any length, any topic (so long as running-related). If possible, within the next week, but send contributions in anyway, and they will appear in the next edition at Xmas.

Thank you!

Welsh Castles Relay - a message from The Chairman..

Les Croupiers Running Club would like to thank everyone who took part in, made possible and supported in any way this year’s Welsh Castles Relay. The weather was perfect for spectating, slightly trickier if helping out, but rather warm for those who ran. Bravo all of you who did, and a special thanks to our medical team and those who helped take care of others when the going did get tough, the ‘Spirit of the Castles’ very much in evidence this weekend.

Congratulations to Sale Harriers for winning the WCR Open, Ladies and Mountain Kings Competitions, a remarkable achievement. Croups would also like to apologise to Sale for a problem with the results process which resulted in Croups rather than Sale being presented with the Ladies prize at the finish. Congratulations also to Swansea Harriers (for winning the Veterans Competition),  Burges Salmon LLP (for taking the Business Class category), Serpentine RC (for winning the Mountain Queens) and Team Bath (this year’s Mountain Monarchs)

The official results can be found here . Any questions regarding should be fed-back to our race results co-ordinator John Upstone via Team Captains. Inevitably there are niggles in organising such a complex event but feedback via Twitter, Facebook, Team Captains and word of mouth suggests it went rather well. Please add to the conversation and tell us what you thought, especially regarding our two new stages (16 and 17) which took us through the heart of the Brecon Beacons this year. As ever we are keen to make the race even safer, more enjoyable, better organised but also competitive next year.

See you in 2019
