The new forum is FAB. It's easy to use - just register with your name and email address. Lots of new features. Great work Ed.

Hi Ed,
I cant log into the new forum,it won't take my user name or email address, and I cant re-register because my user name and address are being used by another ie me.
Just thought i'd let you know and I hope it's not much work for you to sort out.

Should be sorted now Dave, I've emailed your msn address.

Could the type font on the new forum for posted messages be at least the same size as the current forum? To me it seems rather miniscule and difficult to read. We need to remember that we have some very old people regularly visiting the forum, like Mick and Jane, and their eye sight is probably worse than mine. They had difficulty reading all those posts about Lance being the worlds biggest sporting cheat ever in large print - with small print they would still believe he had still won the TDF seven times!

I can look at making the default font bigger - in the meantime, if you hold down ctrl and press '+' it should get bigger. Hold ctrl and press '-' to reduce size again.

Thanks for all the comments. Amanda has kindly agreed to speak for a few minutes this Thursday (22nd) about the new forum (before the Announcements). Please come and support.
PS - and you're not allowed to go home until I've finished the Announcements.

Point taken Richie I admit my eyesight is rubbish these days and I was totally blind when it came to Lance my EX EX hero. But I am nowhere near as old as Mick !!

Can I ask which forum we are meant to be using? As the poll on the new forum looks like being a landslide victory for it can we make a decision to close the old one down soon?

August 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM | Unregistered CommenterClaire Beatty

Yes you are correct Claire. That's the plan, to switch over to the new forum ASAP. Mick has asked me to say a few words first though, during announcements at the club this Thursday.

The benefits to the club include making the forum more user friendly and accessible and making it easier to:
- find what you are interested in
- see recent announcements
- collate race information including runners' entries and volunteers help
- share training tips
- organise social events
- ask for or offer shared transport
- enjoy using new fun features!

More on Thursday ..................

I understand all that Amanda so at the moment, until we swap over, can we make a decision which forum we should use? do we stick to the old one or all use the new one. Either way we need to have a consensus so important posts etc are not missed by the members.

The decision will be made on the 18th September at the committee meeting, it is already further ahead than we expected
