Croups forum > Yoga Evening - 23rd March 6pm

I have managed to book my yoga teacher (Keith) for a 90 minute session on Tuesday 23rd March at 6pm.
It'll be held in one of the rooms in the STAR Centre in glorious downtown Splott.
Will take names on Thursday and a few quid to ensure attendance but I doubt it'll be a huge sum, others can e-mail me to book a place.

Keith is well aware of how unbendy runners are so will temper the session accordingly. This is meant as a taster session and you will not be expected to achieve nirvana by the end of the class.

Nirvana!! Does that mean I will be visited by the spirit of Kurt Cobain??? Count me in either way

Cost should be £4.
Three takers so far, up to twenty odd places available.
I'll be at Gwent League and Parkrun on Saturday.
San Dom / P&D runners also welcome.

Only ladies so far.
Come on gentlemen, we're probably more guilty of inflexibility than the women.

The teacher is male and; he won't mind me saying, not athletic in build. He gives me hope that I can increase my suppleness and core stability.

Sadly I'm working. Is that a picture of your guru on the 'social events' posting. Is he Freddy Mercury?

Yoga to Queens greatest hits it is then ('I want to break free........' 'Fat bottomed girls......')

I have had various takers for this event, a week Tuesday.

I may not make it to Club tonight due to pressure of work (yes, I know that's amazing) so please e-mail any further interest directly too me asap.

I should reiterate that he (Keith the yoga teacher) will be well aware of the mixed ability of the group and will temper the session accordingly. Yoga mats should be available there but if you have your own please bring it along.

Matt I was not down the club as I had other things to do this evening and I would like to come to this session too. Can I just turn up or do I have to pay in advance?

We had 19 attenders last night at the yoga session.
Hopefully they are all recovering today after a 90 minute bending session.

For those who are interested the teacher (Keith) does classes in Iyengar yoga around Cardiff.
Here's a link to his site for those who didn't achieve Nirvana last night.

Thanks Matt for organising. I've been to a few yoga sessions now and last night's was more stretchy/bendy and less balancy, but none the poorer for that.

As well as being very un-stretchy/bendy (and not very balancy either) I now realise that I have inept listening skills, or can't tell my left from my right , or my leg from my arm. Adding belts only increased my chances of addled confusion.

But the lying down and going to sleep bit at the end was brilliant and I can do that!!

Thanks again.

I always look forward to the last bit, being forced to lie quietly for 10 minutes during the daytime is something we should all do more of.
However if you fall asleep you're doing it wrong, you've gone too far.
As Keith always says, and I'm paraphrasing here "Shavasana (शवासन) is the easiest pose to get into but one of the most difficult to master". A relaxation/meditative pose rather than a "John, stop snoring" one.

Glad you enjoyed the session.

Thanks for organising this one Matt. Good to do something different. Distinct lack of bendy-ness confirmed, but the stretches felt good, well, sort of

Yoga is something that takes time.
Very much along the thoughts of Sri Chinmoy and one of my favourite quotes."There is only one perfect road , and that road is ahead of you, always ahead of you."
I'll stop now before I become the guru of Westgate Street.
