Finishing position in each category earns 81 points - position, so first place gets 80 (81 - 1), fifth gets 76 (81 - 5) and so on.
If someone ran five races and came first in the club ("won") all of them, she would have earned 400 (5 x 80) points. Someone who finished lower down, say 11th place in six races, would have earned 420 points (6 x 70).
Points are set so the championship can only be won by a competitor who has run at least the minimum number of races.

In the Women’s Open Section, Julie Scholey held onto her lead by one point, Wendy Boon and Liz Clarke tied for second, just one point behind Julie.
In the Vets’ Section, Julie beat Wendy by 3 points, and Liz earned the bronze medal one point behind Wendy.
Nick Dukes took advantage of Stuart Reeves’ absense (Sick Note: Berlin Marathon), to sneak the overall victory. Stu kept a well earned silver medal, and the still-improving Matt Hurford scored the bronze.
Scott Howell, despite being out of the country, won the M40, 9 points clear of Clive Osmond (2nd), who was 6 ahead of John Diffey.
Mike Murphy was fourth in the Male Vets’ but compensated by winning the M50 with 474 points. Stalwarts John O’Shea and Graeme Donnan earned silver and bronze with one and two points fewer, respectively.
Put no trust in these until Jeff Aston has checked them, however.
