Blokes night out. Sort of.

November 29, 2004

It’s that time of year again. Time to neck back the traditional pint of Wadworth’s 6X and break out the festive onion bhajis. A secret plot has been hatched for some Christmas tomfoolery on Friday the 10th of December, kicking off at the Chapter in Canton, where extra strong Belgian Ale is sold in funny glasses, and then drifting on the tide of destiny towards any curry house that will have us. This plan takes into account proximity to the train station for visitors on bail from Barry* and an abundance of pubs and fine cuisine from the sub-continent. It may be organised by the blokes, but anybody is welcome really. There are not many Les Croups blokes who would shun the company of the fairer sex. It stops us talking about DIY and combustion engines.

7.30pm Friday the 10th December at the Chapter Arts Centre in Canton.

* We like people from Barry really, Especially Mick and Phil. Barry is one of the nicest suburbs of Penarth.

Count me in Simon, I'm all in favour of keeping these Christmas traditions going. By the way, has anyone warned them in Chapter about Dave P's penchant for those funny glasses? Posted by: Dave Lloyd at November 30, 2004 12:23 AM
A very good point. To preserve Dave P's anonymity, I shall refer to him as Mr X. Mr X is wanted by all the major police forces in Europe. Interpol, Scotland Yard and the RSPCA all have him on their database as a threat to Belgian beer glasses in the war against glass liberation. According to Interpol.....He has been involved in several blags over the preceding 12 months and continues to pose a threat. Best serve those Duvals in plastic glasses then. I will pre-warn the Chapter. Posted by: Simon at November 30, 2004 08:45 AM
Don't you mean Penarth is one of the more run-down areas of Barry? John Cox lives there - isn't that evidence enough? Talking of Barry, has anyone seen him? No festive Christmas tradition would be complete without him. Posted by: mick at November 30, 2004 01:11 PM
Oh well, I will most definately make sure my presence is made on the 10th December, its sounds a good night, and more so to the point, better than floating around up the Valley's. Posted by: Dave. W at November 30, 2004 01:51 PM
You are of course, quite right. Both John Cox lives in Penarth and Barry is a pre-requisite at the Christmas bash. Were it not for the excellent runners at Penarth and Dinas and the delightful Mrs Cox I may have been prejudiced against Penarth myself. I tend to think of it as less the run down area of Barry and more as Kensington-by-sea. I shall give Barry a buzz if he doesn't read this. When it comes to swishing beer, we need Barry's guiding hand. Posted by: Simon at November 30, 2004 02:00 PM
To get back to the original posting (a rarity on this website), hands up the Les Croups blokes who talk about DIY and combustion engines whilst guzzling Belgian lager? You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. PS Being from Barry* automatically excludes you from being granted bail! Posted by: mick at December 7, 2004 04:14 PM
