Mug of the Month: March
March 26, 2004
A couple of months ago, John Griffin asked me if I could put a suggestion form on the site for ‘Mug of the Month’ — and being me, I forgot all about it. So this is me doing it the lazy way. Suggestions by comments. You need to give a reason. We’re taking suggestions; it won’t be decided by vote. This is not a democracy, to quote Madonna (or was that Colonel Gadaffi?).

I'd like to nominate Gary Hyatt. He had a magnificent run at the Barry 40, winning his first Welsh medal in eight atempts at the distance. Gary and his wife Pip are an enormous help on race day with the catering.
Also, he's about to run his 23rd consecutive London. Running is all about commitment and persistence. I rest my case.
I would like to nominate Tracy Newman, for her brilliant effort at the "tough guy"going through icey cold water which would have been well over her head the 15FT yhay stack climes just to name a few.
I'd like to nominate Matthew Townsend, he's handsome, dedicated, a formidible runner and lover, oh... and a born liar.
What about Julian Baker - he had the honour of beating Dennis Walmsley in the Gloucester 20, and won the race - Dennis is the current British 100k champion, so that is quite an achievement. Well done Julian!
i think Simon's continued turn out to organise hill and more recently Heath pk reps, despite not always being able to particpate due to calf troubles deserves mention, especially as we all know how frustrating injuries can be! cheers Simon
I'll second that. And good luck at Paris, Simon!
