Run, Santa, Run

December 08, 2003

Dave Coles writes:

The highly successful Santa Run took place on Sunday 7th December in Newtown, Powys. A group of red all-sorts dressed in Santa outfits took part in the event and the running drinking went really well. Details of numbers are sketchy at the moment, but the organisers said there were 3000 Santas, 2200 of whom ran, presumably a world record. It was supposed to be 4.5 miles, but unless my reindeer had turbo boosters, I reckon it was around 3.8 miles. I managed to come in either 4th or 5th, not sure how we did in the team event, but we were in a rush to get some drinking in at Llandod and Builth, so couldn’t hang around!

Lynne Toogood also took some photos, and it made ITV National News, so it got loads of coverage. Superb fun event, as good as New York in its own little way!
