Sorry to have to report the death of Peter Cronin, who died last evening on Ward A3 (Link), UHW. at around 8.30 PM. He was 80 and had been ill with cancer for some time.
I will personally always remember Peter as a man with an immense sense of humour. He brought a smile to everyone who knew him. A very generous man, as I found out last August when he presented me with a huge bottle of Whisky out of the blue for my birthday.
A very knowledgable man, and a fanatic about sport. And until very recently, a very active man, Peter was competing in marathons until well into his 70s. He was unmarried.
He will be sorely missed.
Having just returned from the funeral service, I would just like to say that Peter received a fitting tribute in front of a packed service at Llandaff Cathedral. Several hundred people came to pay their respects. It was clear that Peter was a very popular man and will be missed by many.

As a previous member of Les Croups until work took me away I remember Peter completing the Dublin Marathon in 1998(year that Mick came third) I will always remember him as a larger than life character who brought humour to those that knew him.

I was at Llandaff Cathedral today, to bid farewell to a person I had the good fortune to meet on one of Mel James' annual Marathon race trips.
The scene outside and within the Cathedral was akin to a Sunday morning when the BBC are about to televise the service. Every seat was occupied and still more were standing at the rear.
To say Pete was a well liked guy would be to make a huge understatemnt and yes he will be sadly missed.
And to show how much influence Pete had on people whose paths he crossed, he even managed to get the traffic wardens to let me park on double yellows while I said my farewell.
Thanks and God Bless
